About me
We won’t spend time in session talking about me, but I’d like to give you a little glimpse into who I am, to help you decide if I might be a good fit for you.
I’m a Colorado Native and a CSU graduate (Go Rams!). For three summers, I served as a backpacking wilderness guide where I discovered the power of the outdoors to heal and grow us. The adventures I’ve had in the Colorado and Wyoming mountains have nourished me, humbled me, and healed me.
My journey as a therapist began when I was a client, at the age of 21. My life was forever changed when I took a seat and began the journey of restoration. In that process, I decided I wanted to create space for others to take that same journey. So I went back to graduate school for 5 years to earn my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling.
I married an old college friend when I was 34. 13 years into marriage, I still count him as one of God’s kindest gifts to me.
I’ve lived in Thailand for 12 years and Russia for one. During that time I sat with victims of trafficking as well as refugees from Central Asia, South Asia, and North Africa, to help them find their paths to healing and resilience. I also taught at a Christian International School and discovered the power of deep and rich community and friendship. I continue to enjoy and be curious about other cultures, and am thrilled whenever I have to chance to sit with someone who has a different background from me.
In Thailand, my husband and I had two kids, and became foster parents to one more. Though she’s a grown woman now and doesn’t live with us, she is still a treasured part of our family.
Like many of my clients, I’ve certainly experienced a good deal of disappointment in my faith community over the years. Even so, my spiritual roots are still deeply planted and provide me with the truest nourishment I know. My faith in a loving Creator God at the center of the universe remains the strongest gravitational pull in my life, and is truly what sustains my work as a therapist.
Currently, I’m a volunteer with Safe Families for Children, an organization that seeks to keep children safe, and keep families together. I continue to marvel at the strength and grit of folks whose lives are far tougher than mine, and the drive they have to be excellent parents and move towards growth and healing.
If you think I might be a good fit, reach out and let’s talk.
